The scene

Picture this scene - a florist needing a site to get inquiries straight to her inbox.

I’ve seen many florists on IG redirecting to a Google Form and I’ve always wondered why they didn’t go for a site instead …  Anyway …

Here’s how I worked on Cariad Blooms website (beautiful name, isn’t it?) Hope it inspires you.

The problem

She needed a professional site for many reasons:

  1. To present her services (events and weddings, bouquets, flower subscriptions, …)

  2. To showcase her recent works

  3. To let customers order their bouquet and ask for a wedding quote

The setup

We started with a questionnaire where I asked her to give me all the important details I needed to know to see if we were a good fit.

After gathering all the information, we scheduled a Zoom Call for a quick introduction. We discussed everything required of each other and I started designing the next working day.

The design process

Defining the menu precedes the design process: how many pages, which one should be highlighted, how many pictures are available and so on.

The Homepage design begins after analysing the website inspirations she shared in the questionnaire. I was able to work on the services page after getting the materials I needed.

Most of my inspiration came from the 2 websites she mentioned in the questionnaire. I added a personal touch here and there to reflect her aesthetic.

A working week looked like this:

  1. Creating a page - asking for feedback at the end of the day

  2. Tweaking and doing minor edits the next day and creating a new page afterwards

And it went on like this for the entire desktop design.

I only optimised for mobile once the desktop version was fully approved.

What I liked about the project

  • The branding I’m not gonna lie (the colors and typography)

  • The pictures are stunning

  • The fluidity of our communication

I’ve done On-Page SEO work after the design and I gave her a set of keywords suggestions and an SEO guide to help write her content.

Project duration

3 weeks and a few days

The outcome

A beautiful site solving the problems referred above, coming with a bonus. Her site can start ranking on Google when she gets her own domain name.
